Robert qualified as a lawyer in New York in 1988 and then moved into his family’s trading business where he saw opportunities to deploy capital into the emerging Former Soviet Union, in particular central Asia.
In 1999, Robert disposed of his family’s eastern European investment assets and invested both personal and other capital into a number of web and technology related businesses, ultimately managing the technology ventures division for a UK PLC.
In 2002, following the dot com crash, he established a UK based FSA-regulated corporate finance business, Investory Limited, which ultimately became the cornerstone for Duet Private Equity Limited.
Duet Private Equity is a business that Robert co-founded in 2005 and which now manages in excess of $2B of emerging market private equity, real estate and venture funds for institutional investors (www.duetgroup.net)
In 2008, Robert sold his stake in Duet and began to invest in smaller cap deals as an “angel” investor.
Robert has served on several company boards, public and private in the past and has significant non-executive and executive experience within high growth businesses.
Robert has a BA from Brown University, a JD from Boston University School of Law an MBA from INSEAD.
